1.Tell us about yourself. Where do you live?
I am a 20 year old student, fashion blogger, coffee enthusiast, day dream believer and most of all life lover! I am studying for a degree in Law, with an aspect of European Legal Studies. Usually I live in London, but now I am doing an exchange in France. I really do miss London though, can’t wait to go back!
2.How did you first get interested in fashion and why is it important?
I have always had an interest in fashion and styling, but it was only a few years ago that I finally began to understand it and started creating my own personal style. But I am still learning everyday! There is a difference between natural street fashion and genuine style. I think fashion is important because it is a direct language. We can communicate with others without uttering a word. That is both wonderful and tragic – we should learn how to use it well. Sometimes, the right clothes can say more than a thousand words.
3.How do you describe the fashion scene in London compared to other fashion capitals?
I love London because it is a cornucopia of people, cultures, and what comes with it – fashion and style. You can literally find everything your heart desires in terms of fashion, from ripped t-shirts and tights to elegant dresses and furs. I would even say people would look at you strangely if they saw you wearing a suit in Camden Town! Something, which I daresay is unthinkable in other fashion capitals, such as New York or Paris. There, everyone is meant to be either ‘elegant’ or ‘chic’, while the key to surviving in London’s fashion scene is to be yourself at all times.
4.What do you love about living in England?
I really do love the melting-pot of cultures you can find in England, and London especially. I love the big-city feel, the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the busy lifestyles of people rushing to and from Starbucks. I also love the cultural and historical attractions – one can be in London for years and never get bored – like myself! From gorgeous parks to countless museums, not to mention the cafés, restaurants and of course Fashion events such as London Fashion Week!
5.Describe your personal style. What inspires you?
I would describe my personal style as ‘basic with an edge’. I am a fan of simplism and minimalism, yet with a twist. I usually opt for simple, classic pieces, yet I tweak them with statement shoes or other accessories. I believe Chanel as a fashion house does just that. They enhance their timeless pieces with details or accessories that give them that modern feel – precisely what I like! As for inspiration, I find it everywhere – on the street, on other blogs, in magazines, in the shops, even in my own wardrobe! I then put it all together to create my personal style.
6.Favorite designers and places to shop in London?
Chanel as a fashion house is my ultimate favourite. But I also adore Burberry for its outdoor beauties, and Jimmy Choo for his breathtaking accessories. And who would be able to say no to a pair of Louboutins? For shopping more on the casual side, I do of course find pieces in H&M and Zara, but I am also a fan of Topshop – an English brand! I like the Scandinavian Gina Tricot and Bik Bok. For shoes I turn to Office – they carry the leading brands but have great own-label pieces as well! I do also enjoy peeking into random boutiques – you never know what you’ll find!
7.What is your favorite look that you shared on trendster? What is your favorite look that other shared on trendster?
That’s a tough one – it’s hard for me to pick my own favourite look. I think I will go for “Lace & Leather” though. I love matching delicate pieces with harder ones, which is why I adore the general combination of crochet and leather! The beauty lies in the contrast :) And not to mention all of that paired with the world's most beautiful shoes - the Litas by Jeffrey Campbell, of course! They were definitely my best buy!
For my favourite look of another, I like ‘Horses and Leather’ by Manuella. It’s definitely an outfit I would wear: black, white and leather. Love it!
8.What is the first thing you look at in another person's outfit? Why?
I look at the general composition and harmony, if it works well as an outfit, and if it works well with the other person’s body type. Unfortunately not everyone can pull off every outfit, and part of the trick with fashion lies in discerning one’s personal do’s and dont’s. Even if the pieces chosen by the other person are fabulous in themselves, I would still vote an outfit as a no-go if the person doesn’t look flattering in it themselves. It’s one thing to have beautiful clothes, but after all, what is a good looking piece if it only looks good on the hanger?
9.What would you say to someone seeking general fashion advice?
Start with the basics, I cannot recommend this enough! A good base wardrobe with the classics is essential to further building your wardrobe based on your personal style. I would suggest investing in a good quality basic white-collared shirt, a pair of perfectly fitted jeans, a blazer, some boots, and basic tank tops – and you’re set! From then you can start adding more personal pieces, such as a bold cardigan matched with jeans and a white tank top, to create a very simple yet effective outfit, for starters!
10.Tell us about your wardrobe. What are your favorite clothes in your wardrobe?
I am a huge fan of leggings, so I can say that I definitely overuse my pairs of black leggings! I own 3 leather jackets, but I’m already looking for the next perfect one, I can’t get enough of my leather! And for shoes – that’s easy! Definitely my Litas by Jeffrey Campbell! Next to them, all my other shoes just.. lose their shine.
11.Wow, you have a blog. Tell us about it.
I am the kind of person who has always had a blog of some sort. I started my first blog when I was 11 years old, and since then I have had about 20, some which I wrote alone, and some with a friend. They ranged everywhere from celebrities to fan fiction and even html. But before this one, I had never had one which was about me, personally. And about my style. That is why one bright, sunny day in June 2010, my friend and I were discussing bloggers and we each decided to get a blog. And so it began! I’m the only one who followed through though, really. But now, after a lot of experimenting, I can proudly say that I have found my own specific posting technique and style, and I couldn’t be happier about it!
